A group of 150 small coral islands located about 580 miles east of North Carolina, Bermuda covers only 20.6 square miles.  Its population is 62,000 and the capital city is Hamilton.  Bermuda's convenient location annually attracts hundreds of thousands of tourists to its resort hotels.  The island's assembly dates from 1620, making it the oldest legislative body among British dependencies.  Content with their British ties, in 1995 Bermuda voters rejected independence by a 3 to 1 majority.
