Barbados Map

A British colony since 1652, Barbados achieved its independence in 1966.  It is the easternmost islands of the Lesser Antilles chain with a lush, gently rolling landscape.  The island's 430 square miles are home to 255,000 people and its capital is Bridgetown.  Sugar, molasses and rum are the foundation of the economy, along with a growing tourist industry.
