 Camphor Wood Campaign Chest.

A beautiful reproduction of a campaign chest that would have been strapped to the backs of camels during desert expeditions. Also used by Old Salts in an era gone by to store their worldly belongings. Each sailor had one chest with everything he owned inside it. Camphor, (found in a large evergreen tree found in Asia particularly in Borneo and Formosa), was used to repel bugs and preserve clothing and other belongings.

This rich honey shaded solid wooden chest features

  • Antique finished brass hardware, working lock with two keys, handles, and corners

  • The inside is unfinished to air natural camphor oils and is bug-resistant

  • The top and sides cut from double wide camphor wood

  • Practical use for storage or end table

A fashionable and very practical accessory in any living room, bedroom, five-star attic or office as well as a great addition to your nautical decor.

This beautiful chest measures  31"L  x  16"W  x  14½"H. Inside the chest there is an unfinished compartment with a lid that measures  14½"  x  5½", (shown in the top center picture above).
